Our Hand Therapy team are dedicated to the study and practice of Hand and Upper Limb (HUL) Rehabilitation. At a minimum, each Hand Therapist holds an Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy university degree, is engaged in rigorous professional development specific to HUL Rehabilitation and is committed to robust, evidence-based practice. Each of our therapists is a member of the Australian Hand Therapy Association (AHTA).

Emma completed a Bachelor of Applied Science (Occupational Therapy) at Curtin University of Technology (WA) in 2002. She moved to Cairns in 2005 and dedicated herself to studying and practicing Hand & Upper Limb Rehabilitation. Emma became an Accredited Hand Therapist (As Awarded by AHTA) in late 2007 and opened the Cairns Hand Clinic in 2008. Since this time she has been treating patients from all over FNQ and evolving the clinic. Emma furthered her studies in 2016 passing her Certified Hand Therapy Examination (HTCC) that year. Emma currently works part time, running the clinic and seeing patients. She works across two rooms – in our rooms at Cairns Hand Clinic and also next door at FNQ Hand Surgery with Dr Jeremy Loveridge & his team. Emma loves delivering exceptional care for her patients and working alongside her wonderful crew of skilled Hand Therapists.

Ceadlyn (pronounced Kaidlyn) completed an Occupational Therapy degree at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland in 2011. She has over 10 years clinical experience working as an Occupational Therapist with children and adults in both Ireland and Australia. We were delighted to welcome Ceadlyn to the team at Cairns Hand Clinic in November 2020. She brings with her extensive clinical knowledge and skills and a warm and personalised approach to delivering hand and upper limb rehabilitation for our patients. Ceadlyn is a member of the Australian Hand Therapy Association and an active participant in ongoing professional development alongside our team. She is skilled in treating children and adults with a variety of hand and upper limb conditions including chronic conditions and acute injuries.
Rachel Tattersall

Rachel studied Physiotherapy at The Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen Scotland, completing her four year Bachelor of Physiotherapy degree in 2008. Following her undergraduate studies, Rachel continued her education to specialise in Hand and Upper Limb rehabilitation (hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder). With nearly 10 years of experience in Hand Therapy, working in New Zealand, Western Australia and South Australia, we were delighted to welcome Rachel to join our team here at Cairns Hand Clinic in January 2022. Rachel is an Accredited Hand Therapist (AHTA) with a special interest in treating patients with acute injuries, complex multi-trauma and post operative conditions. Rachel is able to share her specialist knowledge and expertise to assist patients to recover from hand – elbow injuries. When not in the clinic you’ll find Rachel enjoying the beach & sun with family and friends!

Kristy studied Physiotherapy at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, completing her studies in 2001. Following almost 10 years treating patients in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy, Kristy joined the Cairns Hand Clinic team in 2010, bringing with her a wealth of experience. Kristy enjoys the collaboration that occurs between Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists to deliver Hand Therapy services for patients with hand and upper limb conditions. She is an Accredited Hand Therapist and a regular presenter at our local Hand Therapy meetings. Kristy is a compassionate and inquisitive clinician – she enjoys the challenge of assessing and understanding uncommon conditions affecting the upper limb (hand, wrist & elbow) and has a special interest in sports injuries and creative splinting! When not in the clinic, you can find Kristy trail running through the tropics or dropping the kids at their various school and sports activities!
